How To Create A Better Life By Reducing Stress

by SelfHelpDex on May 15, 2013

Stress can be a major problem in your life if you decide to live with it and not do anything about it. You may not think you can do much to the amount of stress you experience but the truth is that you can greatly reduce your stress levels by simply addressing problems and changing your mindset. Here are some tips to help you deal with your stress and move forward in your life.

1. Ask yourself if your constant procrastination has caused yourself stress. A lot of the stress that people experience is due to procrastinating. If you are fond of waiting till the last minute to complete anything and then stress yourself out about it, ask yourself why. Next time, plan well and try to take care of a task well ahead of time. You will find that you will not end up feeling stressful and you can focus your attention on other activities as well.

2. Change your current schedule to change out of your bad habits or addictions. If you find that you always sit down in front of the television after work, try doing other activities like stopping by the gym to get a short workout before you go home. If you always go out drinking on Friday nights, find a class that can help to improve on your skills. By changing your current schedule, you will no longer have to deal with the stress caused by your bad habits and addictions. By avoiding them, you will feel happier because you aren’t being dragged down.

3. Investigate the reasons you feel the way you do about your addictions. An addiction can be more than drugs and alcohol. You might have a food addiction, an Internet addiction or even an exercise addiction. Examine the reasons for your addictive behavior, and seek help from others so you can discover how to conquer it.

4. Eliminate outside pressures that cause you stress whenever you can. You can’t always get rid of sources of stress, which is why it is important that you remove any external sources of stress whenever you can. Hate your job? Improve on your skills and seek another one. Have a friend that makes you feel bad about yourself? Learn to stay away from them and simply stop hanging out.

5. Focus on the solution. Instead of focusing on your problems (which only cause you to be on a standstill), learn to move forward, start thinking about the solution and how it makes you feel when you have these problems resolved. By shifting your focus away from the problem and towards the solution, you will feel a subtle shift inside of you that will keep you moving forward!

It is a fact that everyone must deal with stress sometimes and it can be hard to deal with. Luckily, there are still ways that you and I can use to help conquer stress. Use the tips as shared here to help you manage your stress in a better way so you can be happy once again.

First, you need to write down a list of the things you like about yourself. For example, if you like your hair or your nice smile, write these down. Beside the physical areas, you can also write down your positive character traits, such as being honest, trust-worthy, hard-working, dependable, caring, etc. It is important that you understand yourself a bit better and realize all the good traits that you have. Do not ever doubt that there is nothing good about you because everyone has good qualities about themselves in one area or another.

Once you have your list of positive traits, do the same for your negative traits and note down those traits that you would like to change about yourself. It is still possible to work on those positive traits as well! These traits need to actually be attainable and you will need to break down your eventual goals into smaller ones so that you will be persistent as well as motivated to keep working on them.

It is important that you are patient when it comes to working on your low self-esteem. Understand that you will not improve on your self-esteem in one day, or even a few days. It is going to take weeks, months, and possibly even years to get to the level that you want to be at. By setting this mindset right from day one, you will be more likely to succeed!

Do not neglect taking advice from others because the fact is that you do not know everything. Other people who have successfully defeated their low self-esteem will likely have a lot more experience to share with you! But do note that

Whenever you accomplish small goals you have set for yourself in improving your self-esteem, take the time to give yourself some praise or even a reward. You truly deserve it! Treat yourself to a movie, a day at the spa, or simply take the time off from every activities. Rewarding or Praising yourself can really help you feel better about yourself, and it will leave you more motivated to overcome your low self-esteem!

Finally, do not ever give up! You will definitely run into rough patches along your self-esteem journey, and there will be times when you feel like this is impossible or feel that there’s no significant changes at all. You must never ever allow these hard times to get the best of you. Instead, tackle these rough patches headfirst, knowing that you will make it through, and you will.

Do note that improving on your low self-esteem is no going to be an easy task but you can still do it and succeed! Just remember to stay strong and dedicated on your journey towards self-improvement. You will eventually overcome your low self-esteem and be a happier person.
